I AM SORRY: An Open Apology To The Men In My Life

I AM SORRY: An Open Apology To All The Men In My Life
By Allison Mitchell

The last few weeks I have had some of the most amazing, sincere conversations I have had in my whole life. All of the conversations ended in tears, which doesn’t necessarily signify sincerity, but it does signify vulnerability. This has given me hope. The last few months in therapy I have been working on allowing myself to be vulnerable, allowing myself to have those tough conversations.

I know now that vulnerability breeds strength, and in knowing that, I would like to be vulnerable and openly apologize to any man I have ever hurt.

Do-the-best-you-can-until-you-know

I am sorry for not always listening to you.
I am sorry for not always being able to have conversations that needed to take place.
I am sorry for shutting down.
I am sorry for yelling at you.
I am sorry for manipulating you.
I am sorry for being overly needy.
I am sorry for pretending I didn’t need you.
I am sorry for not always being able to love you.
I am sorry for not always being able to love myself.
I am sorry for lying to you.
I am sorry for cheating on you.
I am sorry for leading you on.
I am sorry for the ways I’ve ended relationships.
I am sorry for ignoring you.

I am sorry to the men I have used and I am sorry to the men I have abused. You did not deserve that.

Please forgive me. I did the best I could at the time.

I am not perfect. But in my imperfection lies this beautiful, vulnerable side which IS perfect. I know I will continue to make mistakes but I would like to apologize for everything I have done to you in the past.

I am wishing you nothing but peace, love and happiness.

Allison

P.S. I forgive you, too.
